Hot Water Beach

Description: You can create your own hot pool at this unique beach, one of the highlights of the Coromandel. A spectacular beach to swim and surf.

 

Time from Te Puru: 1hr 40min by car

 

When to visit: 2hr before and after the low tide

 

Tip: Take a small shovel to dig a hole in the sand for you to enjoy a seaside spa

The Waterworks

Description: People of all ages will have fun at the Waterworks theme park. With 70 individual attractions, a play park and free outdoor BBQs, it's a fantastic way to spend a day!

 

Time from Te Puru: 50 min by car

 

When to visit: Open 7 days. In the summer from 9am to 6pm, and in the winter from 10am to 4pm.

Coromandel Town

Cathedral Cove

Description: Cathedral Cove is a gigantic arch cavern located near Hot Water Beach on the east coast of Coromandel Peninsula. There is a 40 min walk to Cathedral Cove.

 

Time from Te Puru: 1hr 45 minutes by car

 

Driving Creek Railway

Description: A trip on this mountain railway is a fun way to see more of Coromandel nature, as well as some spectacular views.

 

Time from Te Puru: 1hr by car

 

When to visit: Runs daily from 10.15am to 2pm. The train ride takes 1 hour.  Bookings essential over peak holiday time.

 

Description: Do not hesitate to make a detour to Coromandel Town. A gold mining boom town for 34 years from 1868, discover some of the surviving buildings from this time period.
